The ancient Jews into the time of our Lord had a double-edged view of time, the present age and the age to come. The New Testament documents seem to make a striking modification of this view especially of ‘the present age’ so we read about ‘last days’, ‘latter time(s), ‘end of age(s). KJV texts; 1 Cor. 10:11 “Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”; Acts 2.17, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.”; Heb.1.2, “…Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.”; 1 Jn. 2.18, “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even noware there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”; 1 Pet. 1.20 “Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”Amidst the ‘end time’ hype, remember this simple yet crucial point, the last days, last times, ends of the world began in the 1st century with our Lord’s coming in flesh we are simply in the later portion of these time expressions.
